Painted Earth

Painted Earth, 2012-13.

While working on the first phase of Governors Island Park and Public Space, I began photographing the construction markings made by landscape contractors—bright, coded spray paint used to map out irrigation, utilities, and grading on this entirely man-made site. These ephemeral, utilitarian gestures fascinated me, offering a visual record of a landscape in flux. The series captures a fleeting layer of communication between design intent and built reality.
